Craigslist items posted, but need to take some pictures for prospective buyers. DH has been conveniently distracted with his genealogy and photography back-ups while I've been bustling around to get things done. I have set-up a couple movers to come in the end of the week, and reserved a 10'x10' storage unit for $50 a month. Tonight I will be doing laundry and sewing and start packing the clothes.
I texted my employer about me not coming in to work this work to focus on the move, and he seemed shocked. I came back on temporary, and was quite open about this. His shock seems a little unwarranted, but I understand the stress he is currently under to scramble to find a new cook. I think I just screwed myself over ever going back there again...but I'm sick of this backwards, stagnant town anyways.
List of things to do tomorrow:
Pick up packing boxes.
Pack pictures
backup hard-drives
transfer server to cloud service
take pictures of craigslist postings
Double check the utilities
clean-out car.

Thinking of going on the road...
So here we sit on a rut. Our rent is too high. My job has yet to see a raise in 3 years, and it pays only minimum wage (other similar positions pay 50% more). Husband is on disability due to debilitating migraines and is unable to watch our 2 year old daughter fulltime while I go to work. That said, one of the ideas we have had is to hit the road...fulltime.
Now let me explain. Hubby will still be getting his disability check electronically, so we will have a steady flow of a small income. He was a boy scout for 10+ years, obtaining Eagle Scout honors. Personally, he seems much more relaxed when we camp than any other time of the year. Sammie Rae is young yet, and not quite up to par with her language skills, so I want her to focus on exploring this diverse world. I'm not really tied down to this town other than family, and lately they have been getting on my nerves (lol). I've always wanted to take a long road trip, and think now, while I have the energy, would be the perfect time.
Now there are still so much for us to do before we can hit the road.
1) We need to sell some stuff. I made a tentative list of items to sell on craigslist, as well as items to put on ebay.com and etsy.com. (links coming soon).
2) We need to pack items that are going and items that are staying in town.
3) We need to find some adequate storage for items that are staying (maybe 10x10 storage unit?).
4) Possibly need to find an adequate used RV/camper. Right now we just have tent camping gear, which is fine for now, but we will need to upgrade to at least a pop-up in the future.
My current plans are to find a cheaper place to stay while we sell/store items and better formulate where we will be camping at, when, etc. Checking to see if a motel/hotel is feasible or not. Also planning to hit the road for at least 6 months to 3 years.
Cheers!
